On June 23rd, more than 40 people were able to attend the association’s first ever IR Lunch n’ Learn, held at the Houston Marriott Westchase. Houston was selected because the area serves a large base of members and prospects.
The focus of the two-hour event was on what the association has to offer its members. Dave Rupert, CMIR, president of the association, was the main presenter, providing illustrations of the excellent investment recovery education, certification, benchmarking, and networking opportunities that have been developed to help members improve their day-to-day investment recovery activities.
As a sampling of the type of information available for members, Dave reviewed a hierarchy of disposition options for surplus assets and also gave a brief overview of some benchmark information. The floor was opened for an excellent dialogue where nonmembers in the audience were able to learn some of the first-hand experiences from the members in attendance.
Based on the nice turnout in Houston, the Board and Membership Committee are reviewing other potential venues for similar events in the future. If you would be interested in participating in an IR Lunch n’ Learn held in your area, contact Jane Male, executive director of the association at firstname.lastname@example.org.
