2015-Vol 4 – President’s Letter

Greetings, fellow colleagues
It’s August in Florida, where temps and humidity are both in the 90’s. There is another month or so of sweltering heat, then we transition to more moderate fall temperatures. Final vacation excursions are underway before school begins again. Retail outlets are busy with parents and children shopping for those back-to-school bargains. […]

Greetings! WOW! Is the calendar right? Where did the year go?

This year had some interesting challenges, as they all do, but we always find a way to make it through them with our experience, knowledge and sometimes … just our persistence as investment recovery (IR) professionals.

That’s one trait we all share or we wouldn’t be in this business. It may seem as if our accomplishments […]

Taking the Lead Promoting Investment Recovery

Here’s a question I think you should honestly ask yourself: Are you effectively communicating the value of investment recovery within your organization?

One of the situations I’ve faced—and I’m sure you do too—is how to make IR so ingrained with the rest of the company’s mindset that we are never forgotten about or overlooked on […]

It all Comes Down to Relationships

As summer comes to an end, I hope you were able to take time out with your family, friends and for yourself. Time to relax and recharge away from work. Vacations are fun to plan, and although sometimes more stressful than planned for, they’re also your family’s lifetime memory-makers.

Heading to an offsite auction recently, […]

Happy Spring!

After another successful Investment Recovery Conference, hoping that those of you who had an opportunity to attend found it as enjoyable and beneficial as I did. It was great hearing comments about the wonderful speakers we had lined up. I was wowed by the New York Times best-selling author, Steve McClatchy. What an energetic […]

Reflections on 2013

Wow…it’s the last few weeks of the year! I hope you all had an opportunity to take a break away from work to enjoy some relaxing time with family and friends during Thanksgiving, and hopefully in the holiday times ahead. It seems like I am always doing some reflecting during this time of the […]

President’s Message: Principles And Standards Of Ethical Supply Management Conduct

We’re heading into fall, with hopefully lots of warm memories of a summer with friends and family. Your Board of Directors got together in Chicago on Sept. 18th where we reviewed the budget and worked on important issues for the remainder of the year, such as the upcoming prospective member IR Symposium at Rutgers. We are in very good financial shape and will utilize this positive cash position to bolster our upcoming 80th Conference in 2014.

President’s Message: About this Issue

This edition of ASSET 2.0 is full of interesting and helpful information. There is a great article by Dr. Dale Rogers (Professor of Logistics and Supply Chain Management at Rutgers University), putting into perspective the opportunity and benefits that can be captured by understanding the nature of reverse logistics.

President’s Message: Members Helping Members!

As I read through the draft of this edition I was intrigued by the interesting and educational articles on demolition, recycling and the environmental impacts of these projects for ongoing business practices. A big thank-you to Fred Maier and Mike Mitchum, CMIR , who led educational seminars in Memphis and also contributed to this issue.
